Why Choose a Loft Conversions?
Over the last few years, choosing to add a loft conversion to your home has quickly become one of the most sought-after home renovation ideas, usually used as a cost-effective alternative to moving into a different property. For a lot of homeowners, the loft is used as a storage solution for anything from family treasures to old furniture, making it a hoarder’s heaven! However, when converted, many lofts equal the size of a small apartment with the addition of an en-suite, meaning that it’s most definitely worth making the most of the free space. If you are in the process of deciding whether a loft conversion is for you, we’ve compiled a list full of the benefits of loft conversions. Check out the list below.
So, A Few Of The Benefits…
As we’ve mentioned above, many homeowners are opting to bring a new lease of life to their home, instead of selling up and moving on. This can be through adding a conservatory, remodelling existing rooms or converting their loft space into a very spacious extra room. While all revamping options are able to bring a new level of quirkiness to your home, converting your loft provides some of the most rewarding benefits.
Add Value To Your Home
A loft conversion is not only capable of rewarding you with extra features in the present day, but also in the future if you ever decide to sell your home and move into another. It’s thought by many people that a loft conversion can add up to 20% extra value onto your property, making it a very valuable investment for the long term.
With thousands of properties on the market, potential buyers are always keeping an eye open for features that other homes don’t have, and home additions that will make their property stand out from the rest. Converting your loft allows you to easily enhance the space that you already have, giving you an advantage over other properties in your area and making your loft space a hidden treasure.
Energy Efficiency
Did you know that lofts can be one of the least energy efficient parts of our home? 25% of the heat produced in our home will escape through the roof without proper insulation. As part of a loft conversion process, you can incorporate insulation into the roof to make it more energy efficient, and therefore reduce your carbon footprint and save you money on your energy bills. Having an energy efficient home is also more attractive to house buyers.
Create A Room With A View
Nowadays, particularly if you live in a busy city or town, the only views that you can enjoy from windows are those filled with housing estates, offices and roads, which can be quite unappealing. The majority of houses lack a view, which is why this feature of a loft conversion comes as such a pleasant surprise to those who are considering making the renovation. Most loft conversions utilise large windows which are usually located on the roof, which is perfect for stargazing on clear evenings. The windows included in a loft conversion are also considerably higher than any other windows in your home, allowing you to see your local area from an entirely new perspective, making every single loft conversion a room with a stunning view.
Saves You Time and Money
If you are thinking about moving house or building an extension for extra space for a growing family, then you may want to consider the option of a loft conversion. A loft conversion can be a more time saving and cost effective alternative for a number of reasons. First of all any related building work isn’t relying on the weather meaning that work can be scheduled at any point. Less labour is also required as the external walls and roofing are already there, so the job can be carried out in a few weeks, some loft conversions may need some structural support for walls and floors along with the addition of skylights and roof windows. This means that any work being done in your loft causes relatively little disruption to your daily life, is finished more quickly, and is typically less expensive.
Have A Room With Multiple Uses
One of the main benefits of a loft conversion is that, after you have converted the space, you are left with a room that can have multiple uses; there are absolutely no limits as to how you can make use of your newly-renovated space. The most common use of a loft conversion is an extra bedroom with the addition of an en-suite (if space allows), but this doesn’t mean that it’s the only option that you have. If you are planning to extend your family, your loft could be transformed into a playroom, filled to the brim with toys, games consoles and comfy furniture. Or, if you like to work from home, you could turn your loft space into a modern home office.
What Our Customers say
Testimonials
EXCELLENT Based on 19 reviews Posted on Simran GrewalTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a large building project and asked Judges Building services to quote. We were impressed by their approach and especially their communication. They seemed really enthusiastic and attentive to our needs. Their quotation was also competitive. In the end we decided to go with someone a little more local and based on recommendation from a few friends. However it was really close. What impressed me was their professionalism even when they knew we were not going ahead with them. They followed up and asked how our build was going with a lot of courtesy. I think that just shows they care as a business and want to do the best job they can. I would not hesitate recommending them to anyone.Posted on Luke PattisonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Jorden and Harry recently completed our loft and we have booked them in to extend and remodel our ground floor. They were highly recommended by our architect, provided a reasonable quote and came across as being very easy to work with and really caring about the standards of their work. Given the expense we wanted every detail perfect and the guys were very flexible and understanding, always focused on making sure that we got exactly what we wanted and accommodating changes along the way. I have no hesitation in recommending Jorden and Harry, they are very easy to work with and deal with inevitable buiding hiccups with zero fuss or stress. We are looking forward to working with them on getting the rest of the house finished to the same high standard as the loft.Posted on Ben WhitelawTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We were delighted with the work that JBS did for us. The main work involved reconfiguring the ground floor, moving the bathroom upstairs and creating a lovely kitchen and dining room which we now spend all our time in. They redid the plumbing and electrics throughout the house, stripping everywhere back to brick and replastering to a high standard. Throughout their communication was very good and it was clear they had our best interests in mind. They have been responsive to small issues since the build and we continue to be glad they we picked them. Would recommend.Posted on Matt ArmitageTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We employed JBS (Jordan and Harry) to undertake a rear and double storey side extension plus a loft conversion. We lived in the house during the build. The guys were very considerate and always made sure that we were as comfortable as possible (they made temp walls and temp kitchens and moved these a number of times so we always had as much of the home comforts as possible). We have 2 small children so this was very important. The work was completed to a high standard and the trades JBS brought in were experienced and easy to work with. Throughout the build communication was good and we felt we understood the process and what was coming next. Timescales were met even though we asked them to do more work (bathroom fit outs etc). The team we good with our neighbours and also kept them in the loop when any work was going to affect them. After they had finished they have always been on hand to answer any questions on the build. We would definitely recommend them to any prospective clients going forward!Posted on Maxwell MbofanaTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Fantastic build team worked well with our project manager. Thank you guys for delivering within the agreed timeframe even with a few delays caused by external suppliers. Enjoyed working with your team from start to finish. Look forward to future projects. Thanks again!Posted on Richard BroomfieldTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Harry & Jorden have created us a marvellous new bathroom, adding a dormer extension to what was previously a tiny impractical space in our old cottage. They were always polite, very efficient and tidy workers. Due to the age of the property some challenges were met along the way but they were soon overcome by the guys.Posted on Harry TTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We were very pleased with the work JBS did as regards our rear kitchen extension and remodel of the old kitchen into a toilet and utility. Our initial conversations with them were reassuring and they were good at keeping us updated. There were a few unexpected challenges but JBS were able to handle them with ease. Harry and Jorden worked with us to deliver the building to a stage where we could continue the work to completion. We haven’t quite finished the whole project but the pictures give a good sense of the quality of JBS’s work.Posted on Jean HarrisTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Jordan & Harry did a great job with our ground floor extension, for utility room and WC. They kept us in the loop and worked through the various issues on the way (the extra deep footings needed due to old patio structure, moving the boiler because the architect’s design wouldn’t work etc). Very friendly team and easy to have around. We are delighted with the end result, gives us lots more usable space. Would definitely recommend.Posted on Jeni JohnsonTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Harry & Jorden and their team undertook a loft conversion, kitchen extension and complete house renovation for us over the course of nearly a whole year. Their quote was clear and detailed, and flagged areas of possible additional cost outside the scope of their work. They stuck to their quoted prices wherever possible, and gave us regular updates on costs. They were punctual and very hard-working throughout, and the quality of their workmanship was very high. The whole team were always polite and respectful, to our whole family and to our neighbours. We encountered several challenges during the build, notably discovering part way through that a supporting wall was not as thick as shown on the drawings. Harry & Jorden dealt with the challenge well and engaged constructively in finding a solution and delivering the extra work needed to strengthen the wall and continue the project. So overall, a five star review from us across the board – in particular on quality of work, communication skills and attitude. We would highly recommend JBS and would happily use them again for any future projects.Posted on Jake LazellTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had our extension completed by Judges and it was finished to a very high quality. The also made great suggestions within the build to make sure we got the best extension possible.
